So far in my portfolio i have two photoshoots done, I still need to create work for The Rochdale sex ring and my improved The Pusher. I have added text to the first two photoshoots to see if my intial idea of creating work similar to Paul Seawright would work.
Shoot 1
I have added text to the Saddleworth Moors images to explain the story behind them. The order the images are in now is how i want my images to look in my portfolio. The text stems from newspapers but i wrote the text myself which is different to Seawright's images. Iddon was another inspiration to my work as without the text these images would pass as landscape images but with newspaper styled text they reveal what has occurred at these location.
Shoot 2
The Lindsay Jo Rimmer images are styled identical to the Moors Murderers with the newspaper styled text accompanying the images. But unlike the images above they are showing a timeline of events of what happened to Lindsay before she disappeared. Instead of documenting the crime scene of where the crime took place i documented the places Lindsay went before she disappeared. Having this different take on documenting crime gives more interest to my portfolio. Also the styling of the work is different as the images are more street photography styled. This element of having images that are photographed different is taken from Paul Seawright's Sectarian Murders body of work as no two people are the same so the images shouldn't be shot the same. This true with my work as no two crimes are the same so the images for different crimes shouldn't be shot the same.
