Finished portfolio

Below is the images I am putting in my portfolio, the order the images are in now is how they will be in my portfolio. After looking at different portfolio option my images will be presented in a Sea White archival box  A4  I think the clamshell design makes it easier for my images to be looked at because one can slide the images across the width of the print box instead of taking each individual image out separately.Furthermore, I chose the print box because it reflects my work inside which is about crime and images of crime scenes are stored in evidence case file boxes so having a print box like the Sea white archival print box creates a similar effect. Also, the images will be separated by the acid-free archival paper to protect my images longer and stop the images from sticking to each other. Unfortunately i have been unable to engrave my print box, this is one element next time would differently want. I visited the 3D workshop a few times before the deadline and it was closed. They were unable to engrave my print box so I looked at other engraving services in around manchester and i visited some and they wouldn't be able to engrave on my portfolio box so i will have to leave it as it. I have thought about personalising my boxes in other ways like sticking letters on sticking my design below on but this wouldn't look professional so i have decided to leave my box as it is. This a real shame as i wanted to stand out from the rest with an engraved portfolio print box but unfortunately due to things outs side my control it is unable to be done. below is the design i wanted on my print box.The black background  represent the print box colour.

Print box Design (Jackson,L 2017)

However I am now going to use this design inside of my box, I have put this design in side my portfolio box on the opposite side of where my images will be. If can't have my box etched with this design then i will use this design inside.I ave made sure that my images can slide across the design without causing the edges of the paper to crinkle or tear. the main reason i chose this box was that i can lie my images across the width of the box so clients and potential employers can easily look at my images without having to get each individual image separately that is why I chose it so the design on the inside shouldn't effect that. When printed out the black isn't jet black so i will not put any personalisation on as I don't want my box to look unprofessional so i will leave it. I think if i decided to personalise the inside and it doesn't look professional it will go against me in presentation so i would rather leave it unpersonalised than make a mess of personalising it.

I think making the decision of printing my images on matte paper was the best decision as the texture of The Pusher images really comes through which is Matte paper allows textures to come through as it is has a semi-gloss finish. Overall I am pleased with my images they cover four crimes serial killer, the Missing person (which turns out to be a murder), sexual abuse scandal and drowning (serial killer).

The Pusher images I think are improved and look more like crime scene images due to the use of a flash gun.I would think next time I would have maybe used markers and rulers to mark out the footprints and handprints like I did in Negotiated Major Project. I think this improvement could have elevated my images further but I am pleased with they have turned out. The style of having texts like the Paul Seawright and Henry Iddon images has made my images change from landscape images to a documentation of crime scenes. I have learned from researching artists like Paul Seawright and Henry Iddon that text can change the way you view an image as before the text is added to my images you wouldn't have suspected what these places I have photographed are but after explaining what happened in a newspaper styled font the audience will view the images in a different way.

The Lindsay Jo Rimmer images are different to the Rochdale sex scandal and The Moors Murderers, These images document crime scenes where crimes have taken place. I am happy with these two sections of images as they styled how I wanted them to look which is similar to Paul Seawright  Sectarian Murders images to give my images a documentary almost newspaper look to them. If I was to improve these images I maybe could have found where the actual bodies of The Moors Murders victims were but due to time constraints and lack of knowledge, I couldn't find the exact spots at the moment. Rochdale Sex scandal images I think my images are interesting but due to the little evidence, I could find there wasn't a lot of evidence to photograph. The Lindsay Jo Rimmer images are a timeline of events up until the point she went missing. Like Paul Seawright's  Sectarian murders body of work, i took these images for the Lindsay Jo Rimmer timeline at a different angle to create interest in my body of work. The images are taken in a documentary style and I like the timeline I have created. But maybe to improve my images I could have extended the timeline as it does carry on years later which could be an idea for work in the future.

The Pusher

Lindsay Jo Rimmer

The Moors Murders

 Rochdale Sex Scandal

Update i have decide the order of my images in the portfolio will be

Lindsay Jo Rimmer Timeline images
The Pusher Footprint and Handprints
The Moors Murderer
Rochdale Sex Scandal

i have decided to put them this order as having the Pusher images in the middle breaks up the other images as they have a similar look to them. Therefore having The Pusher images second can show a different style of crime images.
